Sometimes very young babies will have softer shells, they harded as they get older. If you just got him he may not have had a high enough calcium diet prior to you getting him. Just keep feeding him well (lots of weeds and grasses and hays) and sprinkle the calcium on a regular basis. Personally I liked to do calcium 5 days a week, multivitamin once a week and one day were it was just the food with nothing on it when my hermanni was a hatchling. If you keep feeding him well and keep the UVB light currrent his shell should start to harden up.
