I'm a fresh owner of ball python. For me,snake looks beautiful, but the problem is that she's spending all day in the hidding place.I didn't know that it's normal for them to behave like that.Me and my wife are a bit sad not to be able to look at her and admire to her any time of the day. That's why thought crossed my mind that I should also get a red-tail boa.The thing which is bothering me is that, from what I've heard, they usually are a lot more aggressive than balls.I hope someone can tell me more about their(red-tails) behaviour.Better to get young one or grownup?Thx to you all..Alex

Alex,

BCI and BCC (boa constrictors) are not commonly agressive species if handled, housed, and fed correctly. Keep in mind that they are ANIMALS, and each has its own personality. Just make sure you are buying from a reputable source and check on their exchange policy. I have been keeping boas for over 9 years now and can assure you, they are a rewarding pet.

Thx friend!Problem is that I live in Serbia and believe it or not, there is only ONE guy who is dealing (importing,breeding,selling...)with reptiles..It's sad,but true..But,in his offer,he has red-tails from his own breeding,so that shouldn't be a problem.I just don't know what to expect, coz I have 2 little daughters and I now that I can easily cope with ball, but don't know if I'll can do it with red-tail.I do really like red-tails so much.Extremely beautiful sort...

Snakes like to hide. I have a 6 foot Suri that still likes to crawl under his bedding/paper. They tend to stay out more once they get bigger but as young they do hide alot. I have yet to have a snake that doesn't like to hide. It's natural for them and makes them feel secure. Chris

A boa will usually hide all day too. Boas are not agressive if you handle them a lot. Get a baby and handle it a lot. But they will just hide too. They are more active at night, but still not all that active.

good luck,
Caden
