woah woah now, someone's gotta help me

hello friends and fellow snake lovers. i've encountered quite a puzzling dilema (perhaps it's not even a dilema...i'm hoping one of you fine people can help). it begins here- my boyfriend and i took our ball python Boomba (who the pet shop had told me was a male) to the vet for an overall physical checkup, since every little thing tends to freak me out. well, Boomba was fine and the doctor told me she was actually a FEMALE! she probed her and got 3 scales in, i was told. so we went to a reptile show and bought a healthy looking male, named Morty (short for Mortimer) for her to breed with. We placed them together and both were in the hide box for a bit, Boomba with her tail sticking out, when we noticed something protruding from her anal cavity that looked nothing like waste...more like a very slimy pinkish grape or the such, an organ of some sort perhaps?? anyway, it was only for several seconds, but it left behind a small trail of what looked like it may have been blood. we have no idea what this means, though our first guess was that SHE may just be a HE. anyone got some input?

I have seen my females do that also. And they were usualy locked up pretty quickly. The blood is from the lock up. It is normal to see a smear of blood. Best of luck..
