Anyone using the Pentax K10D?

EmberBall Jan 18, 2007 05:45 PM

I have been going back and forth, and back and forth, and back and forth...between the A100 from Sony, the Digital Rebel XTi, and the Nikon D80, but now have become intrigued by the Pentax K10D. Any suggestions? It will basically be used for snake pic and vacation pics. Just look at my pics, I obviously need help! and a better camera is a good start.

I love my canon its a 30d but Ive heard good things about the xti , if you stick with nikon or canon its easier to find lenses if you need them in a hurry, heres a sample from my 30d

as for pentax, Ive read some good previews I just dont know whats out there for it. The final deciding factor between the a100 and my canon was the availability of rental lenses.

I got the Sony A100K (w/ 18-70 lens kit) and love it. I am sure you know the specs and know what an awesome camera it is - but what sold me was the fact that it has image stablization built in (so any lens gets the benefit) and it is built with the same Konica/Minolta lens mount. So once I got I hopped on eBay and bought 50mm and 70-210 Minolta zoom lens for under $80 each. I am all set for what I plan to do. Having tons of lenes available is nice but unless you plan to become a professional photographer very soon the 12 Sony lens (and 50 K/M lens on ebay) will more than likely take care of all your needs.

Hope this helps

For the price, I do not think the Sony can be beat. It ranked number 2 in image quality, right behind the D80. I am really up in the air, not sure between a few of the nicer dSLR's. How does the image stablization seem to work. Do you think it is a big bonus, or not really worth it?
