Most of my animals could send me too the hospital and I keep that in the back of my mined but I am always confident. I think with animals like that it dose no good being too nerves it just blurs your judgment but being cautious is a must.
It feels normal.
I would suggest one should always think about it. The thought brings respect while a lack of said respect is often the cause of 'accidents'. I have been keeping Niles for years and always think about the potential for harm, both to them and myself during interactions. That being said all interactions can be done safely when proper procedures and enclosures are used to minimize danger.
How big is your Nile?

she's between 6.5 to 7ft. chris if you come to miami of the event let me know so we could hook up .arthur
I would enjoy that very much. There are quite a few individuals I have known for years in the croc world I would like to visit with in Miami. However as time has gone by it appears less and less likely that I'm going to be able to make the trip. It is still up in the air.
Any pics of your female? How long have you had her? Origin?

i brought her in 2001 from strictly reptiles .i believe that tom crushfield brought them from matagassar.i can mail you some if you like i don't have a digital camera .
It was Bob Clark that imported a ton of them back then.
Chris, you should go to the TTF meeting!!
Yesterday I was at the pet store and I saw a Reptile's Magazine, surprisingly it had a nice long article about the Tomistoma, TTF and TTF meeting in Miami, many friends and lots of tomistoma pictures. It was nice to see!
I'd like to get there but finding time is the problem. Our weekends are jammed up.My wife is running the Austin marathon the weekend before TTF and we have events on the weekend of the TTF as well as a college course every weekend of Feb.
But I'm still going to try. My wife may be able to do the events of the 24th herself and I can break loose.
As cold as it has been here in Texas I need a Miami break
Can't believe I used the word cold and Texas in the same sentence. Climate change anyone?

Im having a bit of hard time making time for the TTF meeting also as I have some "wife" stuff going on around here and its a mess, Chris I know you are feeling for me on that one as you know. LOL
The TTF meeting is also starting to look like its going to cost me a lot more than I had originally exspected but regardless of everything I am going no matter what!
I have my TTF dinner ticket sitting here, I have my airline tickets and the room is booked! So I am there!
Oh, in case anyone needs hotel info for the TTF meeting, I have the information (passed on from Joe W.) so just email me.
I would really like to see her. If you wouldn't mind I'd like to see her and her enclosure. I'm abit of a Nile, ahem, nut. If you'd like I can scan them when they get here and post them on the forum for everyone.
You can get my address off of our website. I look forward to seeing them. Thanks.
