Odd male behavior

Have any of you observed your males in an inverted position?
Last night Adam was cruising about and this morning I found him in a position I've only observed and heard of females taking.

Also found this morning was a little squiggly in the water bath with the female (who's going into shed).

Yep, endlessly fascinating!

Paul,
...The little squiggly thing in the water looks like a semen deposit. I only rarely see any of my males rolled over like yours. I imagine that it is a heat conservation behaviour just like it is in the females. We are having cold weather over much of the country. Is it possible that in spite of heaters and thermostats you still got a drop in cage temperature with the colder outdoor weather? The last few days I am finally getting some good cooling for my snakes.

Jeff,
I think your right about the heat conservation behaviour. It has been really cold here in Sacramento for the past week (well cold for Sacramento). My enclosure fluctuates pretty widely in the lower areas (away from the overhead incandescent lights).
The squiggly is a semen deposit. Unfortunatly, though Adam is good to go, I think Eve is taking this year off. The younger two I just don't know about. We'll see.
Thanks,
Paul

Good luck at breeding and that is the best cage pic yet!

Thanks Bob,
I'm sure I have a couple hundred photos of this enclosure and its inhabitants. Seems like everyday there are more photo ops.
