boa not eating - please help

seethingviolet Jan 19, 2007 01:20 AM

my baby boa hasn't eaten in a little more than 3 weeks. she was feeding well until her last shed. i've checked and re-checked her temps and humidity, and all are good. she has always eaten frozen thawed, and has taken them no problem from either myself or the breeder. up until now she has been on fuzzies. what can i do to entice her to eat? i've tried puncturing the skull to release the scent from the brain and even that's not working. any suggestions would be appreiceated. thanks.

I would offer her a live hopper. Live usually really intices them to eat. This live offering should be in a small shoebox size container. If she has not eaten it in 20 minutes, take it out and try again later. Best of Luck, and you do need to get her to eat.

oi, one of our rats just had babies, so I offered one to our young triple het male, and he kept trying to go up to it and just swallow it like a F/T, with it moving and all. Keep an eye if you feed live when you usually don't, I eventually had to take it out and kill it for him because he was insistant on swallowing it down live.
