I am trying to set up a rat breeding colony and would prefer to build the racks instead of buying them. For those of you that built yours, can y'all post a couple of pics so that I can get some ideas? Thank you

I built this one around the home depot mortar tubs:

I usre it for growout of med and large but could be used for breeding as well. Some of the waters are lowered for the smaller rats. They also use the lowered water to climb to the top for food.

LOL, to many snakes to list, last count:
12.25 BRB

And those are only the breeders

What kind of lumber did you use? Are they 1x4 or 2x4? Also I noticed that it rests on a shelf as opposed to hanging. Is it just one board going down the middle or do you use multiples? Thanks for the pics, it does give me some ideas of how to build mine.

I am looking into breeding rats and i found a rack plan similiar to yours. i was wondering for the food do you just put it on top and they eat through the mesh? Also, what type of food do you use and what type of bedding. I will have to keep them in my bedroom (which is also the basement) so i need to try to keep the smell down as much as possible.
