This morning taking my kids to school we saw something I have never seen before. There are some large alfalfa fields near my house and since they are bare this time of year you can see wildlife sometimes etc....
Well,I saw a coyote hauling ars across the field and not twenty feet behind it were two large does chasing it????what was up with that?

Yes I saw it. Pure craziness!!!!! I have seen some rabbits do some pretty evil things though. Including clamping down on a human forearm and not letting go! Thank goodness for that tree nearby or that pit may have been in some trouble. Isn't that kind of like being a senior in highschool and getting beat up by a freshman LOL? Take care!

When the clip got to me via co-workers it was "Texas rabbit beats up rattlesnake". Yeah, a crotalid would have put an end to that amusing little clip.

It is really amazing how far mother/parent animals will go to protect offspring. I once watched a northern mocking bird harras the heck out of a two meter long northern pine!

Speaking of crazy check this out....The guy is a nutty biologist friend of mine from Vegas and NO the badger was not drugged......some where there is a pic of this guy scruffing a tazmanian devil.....really!

I want to see him scruff a wolverine.LOL...They have no fear.

How'd he get ahold of it. You'd think it would get away into a hole somewere. Get him to try and scruff a Koala Bear, those look cute but I was watching animal planet and a momma ripped into this guy like crazy.

to tell was about being on the tractor plowing and a jack rabbit running out in the open plowed ground. There was a red tail hawk circling and went into dive bomber mode. At the last minute the rabbit jumped a somersault and kicked the hawk. Evidently, they were both stunned and laid there a couple of minutes. The hawk shook itself off and flew off. The rabbit shook itself off and hopped back into the cover.

I guess that when it comes to rabbit, or deer, for dinner there are no sure things in the wild.

Send me the link please.

Yeah I used to see deer chasing coyotes all the time out at work. I've never seen a coyote chasing a deer come to think of it. That's their preferred method of hunting deer; to lure one brave deer away from the heard back to where the rest of the coyote pack was waiting. Deer can be pretty aggressive though. They wouldn't ever bother us by they would sometimes chase my dad's Jack Russell around like they wanted to kill him! Come to think of it I'm lucky I didn't get hurt by a mamma doe. I used to sneak up on the fawns to take pictures. The closest I ever got was about 8 feet and when the fawn saw me it didn't run, just started screaming at me! I decided at that time I should probably take off. The crows would carry off field rats too! That seemed to be their favorite snack we stirred up.

Shannon one of my customers here in Calabasas Ca took some pics of a Pacific Gopher Fighting with a rabbit on the backside of her yard. Apperently the fight ended in a draw with both went their own ways!
Here is a pic from the battle!
