Discoloration in tail, any ideas?

jgamboa888 Jan 19, 2007 02:03 PM

My chameleon has had a discoloration at the end of his tail after his kink for 2 months now. He has always had this kink ever since he was little and was given to me this way. The seller said he accidently closed the cage on his tail. It was bruised and discolored this same way 2 years back, but it healed and his normal coloration returned. When I saw its return I figure he must have harmed it on his own and it was another bruise. However, the last discoloration went away after a week but this has been present for 2 months now. Any ideas?

P.S. He still has full function of this portion of the tail, and he has not had a shed in a while. I always ensure that there is no blood constriction at this portion of the tail every shed.

THANKS!!!!

Do you think it could be a pinched nerve? I really have no idea....just trying to figure out an answer.

If the tail was pinched badly enough to cut off the blood supply the tail would have no reaction and would have died and become stiff and eventually fallen off.

Yea, I think its safe to say its not 'dead' and has blood flow in his tail. Just wondering why the discoloration exist. Also, it only exist on one side, the other side of the tail is completely green and perfect.
