Not mexicana but.....

KenCasstevens Jan 19, 2007 05:21 PM

I know we have a few Honduran fans on here so here's some pics of my albino trio I just brought up from cooling. The first one is a peach albino female, the second is a bi-color female, and the third is a high white male. I can't wait to breed them.

Thanks Michelle, I like them too. they are my only genetic project, i really like splendidas so i decided to work with the morphs of them, to better understand gentics. the two female are slamming hoppers now and the male had to go into a cooling because he wasnt too interested in food come mid november, he should be comming out soon though and hopefully catch up with his feeding, if th female keeping going at the same pace i hope to have some clutches in 08

Life would be over as I know it.

The male has an awesome head but was in the hide and I didn't want to bother him (he's at 55 deg)

I was only supposed to get a pair then I got a trio that ended up being 2.2. My husband doesn't like them due to their hissy nature so he never looks in the enclosure. It is a baby kingsville red bull ginter stock. The flash washed her out.

Rick,

I realize it's none of my business but 55F is waaay too cold for a woma. I keep womas too and never let mine go below 68-70F in the winter. That's all they need to breed. Any lower and you're asking for serious respiratory problems.

Dan,
Thanks! I thought that too and had them with a hot spot of 72 last year with the ambient room temp 55 to 65 depending on the day. They bred (I saw it) and the female ovulated but then re-absorbed. I posted on the python forum and the response I got was "nada". So, at Daytona last August, one of the vendors with babies told me to treat them like Kingsnakes and bring them way down right with the colubrids. I have been a little nervous about it and have been watching for resperatory problems (nothing so far). I appriciate the advice and already plugged in a heat pad set at 70. They are very cool snakes I would hate to loose them. To answer Michelle's question, they are the calmest snakes I own, like six foot puppies.

Dan can I email you for any other specifics?

Thanks for the compliments Michelle, and Adam those are some fantastic looking Splendida. I never really paid much attention to them until a couple months ago. I think they're cool looking. Rick I don't think your wife will be complaining for that long when you start putting out those beautiful, expensive baby Womas. lol. I've been toying with the idea of getting Womas, or Blackheads for a few years now. They're both gorgeous snakes.

About the size of my Hondurans (5 to 6 feet) only about four times the weight. So far they have not bred for me though. Maybe this year. Of course then I'll have to explain the babies on our table at a show - I'll say they are for a friend.

Black Heads are Way Cool but dang they are BIG snakes.

I didn't realize there was that big a difference. I thought they were both about the same size.
