What requirements have to be met to get our own forum? Who do we have to go to to request our own forum?

The thoughts are already in the minds of those who could do it. A post was made last year requesting our thoughts and if my deteriorating memory serves me correctly, there wasn't a tremendous response. The best way to keep the idea alive I guess is to talk about it here? The thing is though... I think it would take one or several knowledgeable and respected volunteers with the time and resources to organize and manage it... and that might be the tough part.

Good question... and I remember talk about it not long ago. Could be that with all the new information and discoveries coming down the pipe these days they wouldn't know what to call it or how to organize it?

Would like to see at least a Thayeri Page. They are certainly deserving of it with all the interest and excitement they've created over the years.

I can't tell you why we don't have our own forum but I can tell you why Graybands do. The reason is this entire website was started by longtime grayband hunter Jeff Barringer as "the Alterna Page" and it all grew from there.

Aaron is right. Alterna have a special place in Jeff B.'s heart, hence the dedicated forum.

And, the dedicated classifieds section. I love alterna, but personally I would not mind so much if alterna and mexicana were put together in the classified section.

I would love to see a Thayeri only forum, but I don't think (IMHO)we will get it. Probably 90%, or better everyone here posts Thayeri. It's basically a Thayeri forum already. I don't think Jeff would add the other mexicana to his GB forum, and the other 10%, or less posts probably couldn't hold a forum by themselves. Thayeri are the only mexicana I have, and with the majority of posts on here being about them it's cool to me when someone posts pics of another mexicana species. I don't know how I've stayed away from them this long, but hopefully I'll change that soon. To me it adds a little variety to the forum, but if there is some way they can work it out a Thayeri only forum would be cool.
On a sad note- this little guy lost the food battle last week. He was so small I could only force feed him small pinky heads which sometimes he threw up. It always intrigues me how a baby snake can have absoltuely no appetite, and if you didn't force feed them they would starve themselves to death. Sometimes no matter what you do the feeding responce will never be there. That was the case for this little guy. No matter what I did he fought me all the way. It's just wierd to me how a living thing can be born, and not have the will to live. Oh well, that's life I guess.

So sorry for the loss of the little msp. I wonder sometimes if they have some type of congenital defect that causes them not to thrive. Some of them do fine once they are hibernated, others still loose the battle of survival. This is possibly natures way of culling defects that could weaken the gene pool, such as heart defects or other abnormalities.
As far as the Thayeri forum goes, I would not want one totally dedicated to thayeri, all though they are my favorite. I beleive the mexicana group in a whole would suffer. We need people out there that are dedicated to others in the group to have a place to post. I hope to keep it the mexicana forum and think we would all miss out on some very beautiful mex mex and greeri. They are only kept by a few people while the thayeri group is growing daily. But then again if you are like me I post things that shouldn't even be in this forum but since i figure I am amongst friends I like to share with my friends.
