Wow this forum has been active today! I can't remember the last time it was this busy. For what species? Indoor or outdoor? You can check the website below for information on housing crocodilians.

I didn't read the header fully. I asked you which species when 'dwarf caiman' was plain to see in the heading. My fault for skimming to quickly.

The SanAntonio zoo has kept the same pair in an enclosure about 300 sq feet, with a pond about 150 sq feet for many years. They breed most every year.In july the female was guarding the nest right next to the fence. It was my honey moon we spent the whole of our days at the zoo or the snake farm takeing pictures. I had offspring from this pr in 1999.My friend has two females from them from 98 they bred this year.In an enclosure about the same size.
Your friends males what did they look like? I assume the 2 females are totally black like the parents. I think these "black palps" are the finest dwarfs out there. I tried to explain them on this list years ago but unless you've seen them... If the offspring of your friends look like they will be black I'm very interested. I have 5 of the red ones with the pattern I really want some black ones.

I have not seen his in 5 years and i belive his eggs were bad so no offspring he has pictures on the forum and is one of the posts in this string. He may be able to tell you how to get those offspring from those parents.
Archie's right. My outdoor enclosure houses 1.2, adult, Paleosuchus. It's about 391 square feet with a pond that measures 15'x8'x2'. It's landscaped to the hilt and has it's own sprinkler zone. I have a line tapped into this zone in order to circulate water into the caiman's pond. Luckily, here in FL we have an aquifer similar to that found in San Antonio, TX. When inclimate weather strikes, I have this zone set to run 3-4 x's, daily. This keeps the water temperature around 72 degrees. In order to keep the water cooler during the summer months, I set the zone to run 3 x's a week.
