yet another temperature question

derek54 Jan 20, 2007 12:59 AM

so... I have a UTH, and the temps get to about 79-82 on the hot side, and the cool side ranges from 69-72... is this ok? or should the overall temperature be hotter.

and are temperatures really that big of a deal for BRBs? ... i know they are, but if theyre off by like 3-4 degrees?

I probably sound like a noob, but i know what im talking about...I have 6 snakes.

Oh yah, I got my BRB! hes in shed right now, so ill post pictures later

Sounds good and no a few degrees won't make a huge difference, it's the gradient that will make it best, then if he's feeling cool, he can move to warmer and vice versa.

Oh yeah, make sure he has hides on both cool and warm ends.

yeah, I have two, but the funny thing is, that he's never been in either of them, hes always burrowing

strictly4fun Jan 20, 2007 12:49 PM

half of them are never in their hides but burrowed underneath it most of the time usually on the cold side or wedged up under their water bowl (extreme cold side) is another spot even though my highs are maybe 83 tops. Even though I'll spray their spaghnum moss and put their coconut on it for very high humidity they still prefer to burrow. Finding them I just put the tub up to light and see their white bellies coiled up but it is not feasible if your lifting vivariums. I only use natural sunlight (it is not direct) and my shade is only open 24 inches and barely lights up the room. I use to use fluorescent lights but heard they don't like bright lights so I switched awhile back to the natural way and their behaviors haven't changed, so I just think they like it.
