Boa in Water

AKCeltics19 Jan 20, 2007 01:04 AM

In my boa tank, the bottom is all water. She knows there is water down there but rarely goes near the surface. But today, she was almost entirely underwater with her head resting on top or with her mouth undernearth. Is there any reason to be worried? I haven't seen any parasites and she hasn't eaten for a little over a mouth but is still active.

ATB's will regularly sit on the bottom of their enclosure. In fact, you should switch out the water substrate and use newpaper/paper towels. These guys don't perch like an Emerald. The snake could just be soaking itself but you should feed it on a more regular basis than a a month out. These guys have a pretty fast metabalism than ETBs. I would say feed the animal every 10-14 days. Good luck.
