Bumble Bee or Super Pastel ?

Claudeballs Jan 20, 2007 01:38 PM

I have a Pastel female I am going to breed. Should I use my Spider or my Pastel ? Or both ?

I HATE MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS!!! LOL,

I gues it really depends on how bad you want each of the end results . If you've got the makings of both, pick one for this year and do the other next year. Not much help eh ? Sorry, I guess I like the super pastel.

Bumble Bee. So many more options when breeding imo. If you get a male breed it to a female pastel and get pastels, spiders, super pastels, more bumblebees, and killerbees, all in one clutch. Not sure if you're a breeder. Maybe you already know this and have bumblebees already.

Personally, I'd go for the BumbleBee. I love the Bumbles.

Or, you could breed both males to her. If I were in your position I'd probably give the Spider first shot at her, than let the Pastel have a breeding, and put the Spider back in with her to wrap it up.

I do the 'co-father' thing with my corns all of the time. With the corns, as long as I know for certain that none of the snakes are het for other traits I can immediately know who the father is upon hatching.

Example: last season I bred both a Lavender Motley and an Anery Motley het hypo to an Anery Motley het hypo female. The resulting clutch gave me anery motleys, ghost motleys, and normal motleys. Immediately I know the Lav Mot fathered the normal motleys.

If you can't decide on which male to use go ahead and let them both have a shot at breeding the female. Adds an extra element of surprise come hatching time.

I would for sure do the Spider x Pastel. I did Pastel x Pastel last year, and got 4 good eggs, and only one Pastel, and three normals, of course, all males too. The Bumble Bee is an amazing snake, and if you get one, you will be glad you chose Spider.

I would love to hatch out a Bumble Bee. But Super Pastels would come in very handy. I think I will start with the Spider this year. Thanks all. Claude P.S. Hope to post pics in about six months.

I say bumble because thats all I can go for at the momment I do not have a female Pastel yet. But after you pair up the spider like the others have said give the pastel a chance.
