a few Greeri pics since they get little

shannon brown Jan 20, 2007 01:57 PM

attention here.LOL...Its all about the Thayeri huh? LOL j/k

Again I used to have some real screamers and really wish I still had some of them.Like everybody that has been doing this for a long time we can look back and wish we would have kept this or that.

Anyway, here is a male that I have right now.I produced him 7 years ago out of a pair of really green applegates that I will show you lower down.He was the darkest ugliest one in the clutch and a male so I gave him to a friend as a pet. That friend has gotten out of snakes and I was lucky to get him back a few months ago. Here he is.

here is a female that I have right now also. She is from the philly zoo stock and is f1 from Rancho Santa Barbara.I just love here dark borders and here red diamonds.

here is a nice male I had a couple years ago.

here is the female that went with him.She was a screamer.

here is the best baby I produced from the nice pair above.Unfortunatly I had sold off the adult pair before the eggs hatch.I sure wish I still had this pair. The other bad part is that this hatchling died five days out of the egg even before it had shed??Bummer.

I have some prints of some others that I had back in the early 90s from applegate,sipperly,hammock....

Shannon, those are beautiful. I think they are very unappreciated but still apart of what we all love the mexicana group. I do plan on adding them to my collection. I find them very appealing. Thank you for posting the pic's.

Very nice snakes Shannon. I have kind of been out of the hobby for a while and noticed few people still have, or call their snakes "greeri". have they been reclassified as "thayri". I still have a trio I brought in '95 from Gaines Reptile, before he went entirely into boids. I still have a copy of the bill at $250 each. At the time they and the Grey Bands were my most expensive snakes. I stopped breeding them because I lost all my patience with difficult feeding babies.

Thanks,
They are still Greeri.I am not aware of any changes coming either.

Greeri was never classed into thayeri. I think you are thinking of when Garstka declared L. m. thayeri (aka Thayer's, Variable or Nuevo Leon) and L. m. greeri (aka Greer's or Durango) both to be synonomous with L. m. mexicana (aka San Luis Potosi or Mexican).

Yeah… there’s definitely a little Thayer’s action going on around here, must be all the surprises.

Thanks for sharing the greeri pics. That was a very nice Appelgate pair you had, the green on that female was spectacular! And I remember seeing that hatchling in a post somewhere and thinking what a great looking adult it would be with those narrow and light centered saddles, it's a shame that one didn't make it. Your dark pair looks great, congrats on getting your nice male back. The female is one of the better looking dark greeri I’ve seen. I’d like to see a side-angle shot of her one day. Is she ready this year?

Very cool looking snakes Shannon. I especially like the dark female with the red diamonds. She's hot!

Shannon,

Very nice animals! I've been meaning to adding them to my collection as soon as I satisfy my thayeri/alterna addiction...never enough money!

Hey, are you planning on producing any of those anery Juno Road alterna's this year? I would like to add one of them (and maybe one of the Het's as well) to my collection...

Later,
