can anyone post pictures of rodent grow out enclosures?

ross2k Aug 10, 2003 08:49 AM

my rodent grow out enclosures WERE some 50g rubbermaids but they had in laid corners which the rats chewed through. my rack which uses mortar mixing tubs is working great though. all nice and smooth, nothing for the rats to chew on.

i was wondering what large enclosures you guys use. i would like to build 2-4 larger sized bins, in the neighborhood of 3' x 2' area on each, to grow out 50 or so from weaned to various sizes.

There is a tub that's around 3' X 2' at my local hardware store. Just like the mortar tub but bigger and an inch or so deeper. If you are only going to use them once in a while, you could stack them, and when your not using them they could nest inside each other and not take up too much room. If your going to grow rats out all the time though, you might as well rack em up. I seldom grow any out, so I just use my regular tubs when I do. The 50 gal. rubbermaids waste a lot of space in height anyway.
