Stress Coat on Dry Skin- TY PHRatz

PHRatz-
You had suggested "Stress Coat", for my star's soaking water to help his cracked skin. It works nicely and he seems comforted. I appreciate the guidance- TY

Great I'm glad it worked out for you. I've been buying mine in the pet shop thinking it seems a tad bit expensive for what little bit you get, almost 5 dollars for 4 ounces. I recently was in an Ace Hardware store & saw a large section of pond supplies. I couldn't believe it, I saw a pint bottle of this stuff for 10 bucks.
If you ever need more you might look for pond supplies.

btw love the screen name Ringo.
The Beatles are my ALL time favorite band

It's drinkable?

I've used StressCoat in my fish tanks forever, so I guess it's obviously non-toxic. But still, I never really thought about an animal drinking it.

Only in the bath water if the skin is looking too dry.
I have what used to be a guest bathroom, now it's my animal utility room. They each take a bath separately in the bathtub in water just deep enough to cover the edges of their carapaces. Then I drop in a cap full around where that one needing it is sitting in the water.
They'll all bathe for 20-30 minutes each day so it's just a small amount for a few minutes a day.

I don't put this in the drinking water, only the bath water then I try to drop it in after they've had a drink. It's just aloe vera so if they did drink some it shouldn't hurt anything. I wouldn't want them consuming too much aloe because that could lead to diarrhea but to help with dry skin this is good stuff.
I started using it in the bath water when my first injured box turtle started drying out during winter when she had to stay awake inside the dry house.

I know a lot of frog keepers use it, hermit crab keepers use it, I thought why not chelonians? It worked for my box turtle.
I use it only if they start to dry out I don't use it all the time.
It's only for the soaking water, not the drinking water.
