I finally broke down and built a

rat rack. I need to build a couple more to get the breeding up to keep up with what I need to feed off each week. I also need to set up an auto water system for the rack(s). Let me know what everyone thinks.

Just a suggestion. Place another board about 4" behind the front board. That way you can keep the feed contained in a smaller area. And the weight of the food on top of itself will make it easier for them to get at it as opposed to it getting pushed around as they are trying to chew it.

How do those little drawer boxes work for keeping snakes? I thought about using them...but I couldn't figure out how to heat them...
and I was worried about escapes.

Depending on the manufacture of the tubs they work great. I have the small ones pictured and large (that I use for my adults) that work great. I have another set of 10 that are a medium size from another manufacturer that are terrible. The snakes have a habit of being able to push the tray open and I have had allot of escapes. I ended up making a lock system for those that keeps them from escaping now. On the small racks like in the pic, I have 3" flex watt that runs vertically between the racks towards the rear that works great. It keep the rear of the cage at about 91 and it gives a gradient to about 84 at the front. On the larger tubs I have 11" running as back heat on the outside of the rack and it works well also. It keeps the rear at about 92 and the front at about 85 or so. I have been using these for a couple of years without any issues. The smaller racks can use back heat like the larger tubs but this way it saves me having to run another strip of 3" flexx watt.
