Does anyone know what type of skinks can be compatable in the same enviroment as a schnieder skink? Perferably, a skink who will make pretty babies
Guy is a male schnieder 3.5 years old... thanks

IMO... differing species should not be kept together in captivity. Matter of fact, most captives should be housed seperately to ensure no aggression.
Why do you need them to be together? Did he tell you he was lonely or something?
If the animal is eating/pooping/shedding properly, dont interupt it by putting in some strange animal.

I don't know much about Schnieder's skinks but did see an interesting article about them in the recent Reptile's magazine. From that article, these skinks are more desert dwelling and seem to be pretty solitary, even with their own kind. It may be possible to set up a desert type vivarium with other desert dwelling reptiles but you really need to research all species involved, have a cage that is probably twice to three times larger than what you would need to keep a single or pair of schneider skinks together and much more work on your part. You need to be able to recognized signs of stress or other problems in all animals involved in the setup quickly, else one or more may die of stress related problems etc.
I am sure it can be done but it requires alot of work and knowledge (via experience keeping the animals themselves) before one can make a multi-species setup to work.
Another comment you mentioned was 'something that will make pretty babies'. Are you hoping to breed your skink with some other species? Hybridization isn't recommended nor even possible with animals that are not closely related (not genetical, but species wise). You can't say, breed a Schneider's skinks with say a Blue Tongue skink, or 5-lined skink.
If you are thinking of breeding Schneider's skinks together, that certainly is possible. A male and female pair of Schneider's skinks could be kept together (providing they get along, as I mentioned before I don't really get the impression these skinks are solitary, even with their own kind). If the pair get along then you can keep them together but if not, even though opposite sexed, they will need to be kept separate till breeding season.
Of course the cage will have to be big enough to house two skinks.
Try and track down the March Issue of Reptile Magazine. THe article on Schneider's skinks, though not huge, is very interesting to read.
