Need Savu python info

Striker7 Jan 22, 2007 12:19 AM

Hi I am a relatively new person to the snake hobby. I had a wild caught texas rat snake as my first snake unfortunately a while back, but I am looking into getting a Savu python and would like to know what if any difference there is from feeding habits, cage heating, behavior, and etc....

They're great little pythons. Very agressive eaters - you shouldn't have any problems with feeding. They can be cage agressive, too, but should be very docile once you pull them out. Temps around 80-90, moderate humidity (50-60%), higher when shedding. They like to climb and perch so try to give them some vertical space. They only get maybe 5' long (females), but they're freaky strong for their size. We have a male and female - the female is very docile but the male still strikes when he's in his enclosure. Once he's outside, though, he's totally docile. They start out orange but gradually get more and more dark spots. Some adults are almost totally black on top. IMO this is one of the most interesting, affordable, and manageable pythons you can get.
