Bearded Dragon Growth

Rtegu Aug 10, 2003 09:31 AM

I have had an adult sandfire yellow bearded dragon for about 5 years and finally he has stopped growing at 3 years at about 14inches. Is this a normal size because he seems kind of small? Also My other 2 BD's are also growing very slowly. After about a year they are both only an inch or two bigger. I feed them about as much small crickets as they can eat everyday. What is the problem?

Are you supplimenting them with calcium and vitamins? Are you using a a uvb light? Yes, those sizes and growth rates are a bit slow and small.

We would need to know more to make an assumption about what is wrong. Substrate, tank size, heat (Basking and cool) Suppliments used, lighting used, etc.

Hm, that does seem a bit small. My guy is only 6-7 months and he is already 14 inches long and 132 grams and growing like a weed. Most of the adult dragons I've seen are 20+ inches or so.
