Hi all,
Here are some pics of my Mertens.
I got him to come out for these pics by offering him some food, after he saw the bowl of mice in my hands he was more than willing to come out and let me pester him for a while.

some nice portraits

caught a nice tail shot while he was climbing down to the tub

in the water

I'd really like to pair this guy up, but I just don't think its ever going to happen for the poor boy. He was raised solo before I got him and female Mertens are way to scarce to try to match him with.

If anybody else has any Mertens pics to share please post them. I'd love to see some more adult Mertens on here

Jon

so far as I have seen, this one has had no inclination to bite (although I haven't forced myself on him, so I don't know that he wouldn't ). One thing that I can say is that they are very accurate with those tails, and you can definitely tell they are strong swimmers when you get hit with it. so far I think Mertens are great fun. I don't even mind dealing with all of the dang water they go through. I would imagine that they would be an absolute blast in groups or pairs too.
