I was reading the post on hanging bulbs and noticed your peachthoat. What locality is that it is very different then my peachthroat, it looks like the "silver spots" they imported a few years ago. Whare did you get them. How is it as a captive? Could we see more pics of your peachies? I will try and get pics up of mine soon. Thanks, and beautiful monitor.

Are they shy captives like melinus or more bold like normal jobiensis? My jobiensis is skittish but is often out in the open.

You know allot of peoples ask me this? Many even claim jobiensis are flighty and skittish.
These are my all time favourite and the species I have kept the longest, in fact I kept all known localities at one time or an other. I don’t find them skittish at all.
Sure they are active and like to dart off and trash about, but if you keep them in larger enclosures, you soon realise all this is body language for then, they are display lizards that have all kinds of fancy moves to impress the gallery.
Dominant males are quit an act, even as babies you can tell who’s going to be the leader, there social structure impresses me, I have never kept the gouldi complex, but I think they are similar in behaviour?
In any case much more fun then other monitors species iv kept. Surprise there’s so few who keeps them.

In 20 years never did a jobiensis tried to bite me, can’t say this about any other monitors.

Peachies are one of my favorite to, unfortunatly good babies are hard to find, I'm looking, haha. Mine is very active and if I don't move too quickly than he/she just keeps going about his/her business. I keep gouldi complex and they are very similar in behavior, but if grabed the gouldi will scratch, whip, and hiss. All the peachthroats I have worked with, definitely not even close to the amount you have worked with, bite, whip, void, scratch, and hiss as soon as you pick them up. You can't blame them. This doesn't usually cause problems for me since I very rarely touch my monitors. Just some of my observations, which are not much. I would love to hear more about your peachies, or any tips. Thanks. Here is mine.

She will soon do anything for food, including allow gentle handling.
Most keepers just throw food in the cage, but food is your best tool to work a better interaction.

I simply enjoy them the way they are,
