Lots of folks have Emory's, but I'm not sure too many are into locality Emory's. Here's a cross bt a "meahllmorum" and an "intermontanus"...

This baby was really fiesty. I'd like to see more Emory's from West Texas.

...a silvery, adult female...

...an adult male...

I'd like to see some Emory's from other locations, such as IL, MO, AR, OK, N.M., Mexico, etc.

Here are some Pantherophis emoryi meahllmorum from Nueces County, TX. -Toby

A few more shots, what the heck... The first photo is 1.1 2004 offspring from the big female in the second photo. The last photo is a 5 ft, 1100+ gram monster. -Toby

my male meahllmorum

ratsnakehaven Jan 25, 2007 04:47 AM

Ok, you guys got me started. Toby, those are some nice Emory's. Here's one from further south, Brazos Island...

These coastal Emory's are very interesting snakes. Also nice are the ones from more inland, thornscrub habitat...

I believe locality Emory's will become more popular with time. The La Salle Co. Emory's that hit the scene this year are very nice animals.

Love those Brazos Island meahllmorum, Terry. I always like to see the reverse stripe too, from Freer, right? How are those La Salle snakes doing, and got any photos of them yet?

-Toby

ratsnakehaven Jan 25, 2007 04:43 PM

Thanks, Toby. The reverse-striped is from near Freer, Duval Co. The La Salle thornscrubs are doing fine, still kinda smallish. This photo didn't come out very well, but still gives a rough idea of what they look like...

I'll probably take some more pics in a few weeks, although it's a little more difficult in the winter here.

Thanks Terry, it looks like that baby has quite a bit of brown in it's ground color, or is it the lighting? I have one that I like that has a lot of light brown ground color. I'll try to get a pic soon and see if I can get my computer to accept some photos again. Nice looking meahllmorum eiher way.

-Toby

ratsnakehaven Jan 25, 2007 09:46 PM

Thanks, Toby.

The La Salles seem a little darker than the Freer female when she was a baby. But she lightened up quite a bit and looks great as an adult. The La Salles aren't really light or dark, but I'm hoping they will lighten as they grow. Their ground color is more like a gray/brown mix. They sure do eat well, and should get lots larger next year.

PS: The lighting was terrible in that photo. I'll get some better ones. Look forward to your pics.

Shoot me an email. I'll be breeding some of mine next summer.

Nice meahllmorum. He looks like many from Nueces and Kleberg Counties. Here are a couple more shots of my big Nueces County female, showing the dorsal blotches split by lighter colored transverse bars.

Toby, that's the nicest example I've seen of the "split" blotches. She's a good looker and should produce some nice babies. Boy are they big!

Terry

tbrock Jan 25, 2007 09:49 PM

Thanks Terry, yeah they sure are big alright! haha! I like the split blotches myself. If this year is anything (I hope) like the others when I bred her, I should have a dozen or more big, fat neonates this summer. Wish us luck!

That Brewster County snake is very nice, Steve!
-Toby

ratsnakehaven Jan 25, 2007 04:50 AM

Steve, you've got some nice snakes there. Do you have a mate for that Brewster Co. female?

Terry
