'03 - F2 South Georgia Eastern Kingsnakes

willstill Aug 10, 2003 10:56 AM

Hi all,

Well they have shed and are picture ready, now I just hope they eat (ha, ha)! This is the orangest pair from my K. Enge, Statenville to Tifton Georgia Eastern kings. As they mature, these kids will retain a significant amount of orange color. Actually, the adult I posted a few days ago, from the same parents, started out looking very similar to these two. Thanks for looking.

I know that these are not "classically" patterned eastern kings, but every year, I get one or two from this pairing that are very aberrant in the pattern department. These are the most extreme of the clutch. Most of their clutchmates are typical medium chained (2-3 scales wide), black and yellow easterns with varying amounts of orange in their light pattern elements. I'll try to get a photo later of a typical with an extreme example from this clutch.

Also, I just noticed that this pic shows how easy it is to visually ID the gender of baby kingsnakes by comparing the length and thickness of their tails.

Wow!
My husband grew up in Douglas Georgia, which is Coffee Co...not that far away from Tifton. His parents still live there. I spent over a year down there with him in 99-00, and we have been down there visiting since and I must tell you I have seem NOTHING even approaching the beauty of those snakes.
I must have one, are those for sale? If not, do you know anyone who is selling them? Thanks.

Those are stunning snakes. Very unusual.

Thanks for sharing.

Will,
I used to produce some almost as nice (maybe not quite as wide bands) from the Tifton female, which I sold as bumblebees. She has laid infertile eggs the past 2 years, unfortunately. I produced one male that is similar to yours from a different female this year (Statenville father). Stop by my table and say hi.
