Well, here's the update on Athena

legalizefreedom Jan 23, 2007 07:45 PM

She was in obvious pain and wan't going to be able to be in any shape to be able to actually keep and ehr be happy. I payed the 20$ and went to my local vet and had her Humanely Uthinized. I hella miss her I held her for he last moments after they gave her the shot. It was soo tough I burried her in the garden just outside of my window to my room. I'll be planting many many flows above her come spring (its snowing at this time of year)

RIP Athena 01/22/07

thank you. It's hella depressing because she was about 3 years old and ive had her since she was a baby. But i'd rather her be out of pain thta hurting just so I could be selfish and be with her longer

nathan23 Jan 23, 2007 10:45 PM

At least now she is not in pain.

I remember when I lost my first beadie years ago, it was definitly hard. i donated her to a museum and she was on display for years.

peace,
nate

sorry to hear about your loss. i too just put a dragon down not too long ago. he was perfectly fine for a few years and just took a downward spiral. the vets first gave us antibiotics to help him but they didnt work, his disease was too far advanced, so we had to put him down. i couldnt even be in the room when they did it, and had them do whatever they do with the body cause i just couldnt do it myself. this was the 2nd dragon (besides some babies that didnt make it) that ive lost. i also lost my first male i ever bought 5 months after getting him.

thanks you guys. it is DEFINATELY hard. I like the museum idea. But I'd rather her be at peace and in the earth. It's hard to explain. I'm soryr you couldnt stay in the room with your beardie. It hurt alot, but she didn't even twitch then they iinjected her. I mean like she seemed to think it was just normal. Then I held her for a bit, put her ina small box and burried her outside my window so I can be with ehr all the time.

Thanks again everyone. Yeah, i admit I teared up a bit too, esp. at the vets as I held her before she passed away. and then that night when i had to go home and walked into my room with her cage all lit up but oh so empty. Hell, my eyes are watery right now just thinking about it. I'm sorry, also, to everyone else who has lost one of these amazing animals...

I am very sorry for your loss. I know how you feel, I lost my first chameleon in September, and it was very hard. He was 4 years old and I buried him at my mom and dads place, and even made a wooden headstone. Hope you feel better soon and I'm sure you'll find another sweet baby beardie that needs you to love em and take good care of em.
