am i the only one who haggles the vendors at reptile shows to death before i make a purchase.i dont think of it that much but dident want to be the odd one or looked at as cheap.

As a sometime vendor at shows, 90 percent haggle. Sometimes I come down, sometimes I don't. Depends on what it is, some of the top end animals I sell at a very fair price (IMHO) to start with so I do not come down. Other things are subjective. I have no problem saying no to an offer if I think it unreasonable. When buying, I usually offer what I think an animal is worth to ME. If I feel something is worth $200 and they want $250 I offer $200, if they say no then I don't buy it because I felt it only worth $200. If it is already $200 and that's what I was going to pay for it I don't haggle. Also, if something is $1000 and I only feel it worth $200, I don't even bother.

I think most vendors expect to be haggled to a certain extent. Theres so many people selling the same stuff they have to have a competitive price. I think usually the haggling stops Sun afternoon. By then you can almost offer any reasonable price, and they're ready to sell. The problem is if you wait too long to try to get a deal you may not get what you want. That happened to me in Daytona last year. This guy had an adult pair of Thayeri that I'm sure I stopped to look at more than a billion times that afternoon, but I procrastinated, and decided to wait until Sunday to get them, and they were gone when I got there the next day. Classic you snooze-you lose.
