Heat source

Just wondering how you guys heat your tanks, and what you find more successful. a heating pad under the tank, or an overhead heat lamp?

Both of my hoggies are in my bedroom- so, even if I wanted to use a lamp, that would be out of the question. All my snakes are on UTHs with thermostats, because they will get up to 120F unregulated.

why would a lamp in your room be out of the question, out of curiosity? My hog loves to bask, and he seems to be diurnal, so back heat seems appropriate.

I was going to ask just about the same thing, but never got around to it.
