American Alligator Habitat

I am building a habitat for a baby American Alligator. I amthinking 6'x6' square setup. I dont want to put him in an aquarium. So if there are any ideas for how I should buil it let me know. Thanks.

I am also debating on whether or not to get a male or female. Not sure what we want yet.

Well, there are multiple ways you can do this. If you are considering getting a hatchling (which speaking of the sex, you most likely won't have a choice in the matter, what you get is what you get. Unless the animal is approximately 4' in length, sexing the animal will be unreliable.) then a 6' by 6' enclosure will last it a little while. If you have that kind of space, then you might consider making it easy on yourself and just purchase a 6' in diameter stock tank. That would make for a decent enclosure for now, but when he outgrows it and it is time for a permanent outdoor enclosure you can dig a hole and drop the 6' tub in the ground and there you have a good water source for awhile.
