I have a large female that I got about three years ago. She had been a long term pet and I didn’t attempt to breed her the first winter I had her cause she was very skinny and I got her late in the year.

She bulked up nicely and I tried unsuccessfully to breed her last winter. She locked up several times but just never went for me. Now again this year she has locked up many times with a proven male, but again, while my other females have been building towards ovulation, this girl doesn’t look like she’s gonna go.

I know people have had females that they have bred successfully after many years with no luck. Does anyone have any tips on how to increase the odds on triggering ovulation for next year if I strike out with her again now? Maybe a longer cold cycle or shorter cycle but really dropping the temps very low? Different diet or feeding regiment?

Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. I really want this one to breed for me. I think she would make a great mom!
