Who doesn't like pictures?

j3nnay Jan 25, 2007 10:25 AM

Thankfully classes have finally started again so I have something to keep me busy waiting for my eggs to hatch...

Along with constantly fiddling with the camera

Tried taking pictures with the flash off and the heatlight on, and got this (which I thought looked neat). It's my ladies, with Periscope's head being visible in the middle.

Finally,FINALLY I managed to get Darwin to stay still long enough for pictures. His nickname these days is "Noodle Snake" because it's kind of like holding a very large, moving noodle when you have him out.

Top:

Bottom(see what I mean? If he was any more relaxed he'd be dead):

Periscope never takes a bad picture :D

Thanks for looking everyone!

I wish I was in college again! Lots of fun & no mortgage payments or kids! Lucky you! SoCal weather looks mighty fine to me, as I sit & look at my desktop weather of 5degrees. BRRR!!

In the pic where your snake bluish spots on her head, does that mean upcoming shed? I think Franklin is going to shed again. I guess that makes it once a month for him. I wish there was a magic way to tell how old he is.

Loved the critter pix on your website! I had a hooded rat in college named Mocha. She used to sneeze & pee at the same time when she was really excited. I loved that rat to death. She got sick & my mother adopted her, took her to work, kept her in a sock & spoon fed her till she died.

I need to post a pic of my daughter's new fuzzy long haired mouse. It looks like a hamster.

So, how old are your BPs? How long are they & how much do they weigh? I'm trying to learn to judge age.

Next thing is I want to learn how to use the probe & figure out if Franklin is really a boy. I am just dying to buy another snake!!!

Hah, and I thought our cold spell of 60 degrees was bad! :D

The bluish spots...Probably were just light reflecting. I rarely, if ever, take pictures of my snakes when they're about to go into shed (I rarely mess with them when they're blue, actually), so the spots you saw were just how the camera captures iridesence.

Scurvy is a big ole rat and he is quite possibly, in my incredibly biased opinion, the awesomest rat ever. He really does come when he's called.

My longhaired mouse just died last night, actually. His nose was a bit swollen yesterday morning and when I got home last night his whole face had puffed up and he was havin a hard time seeing or breathing, and he died an hour later. I think it was a food allergy.

My big female is about 15 years old, 5 feet long, and as for weight... My guess is 7 pounds, but that's extreme guesswork. My little female is a little over 2 feet long and I believe she's about 6 months old, although I don't know for sure. Darwin is my male, and he's 4 feet long, and supposedly 5 years old but he was a rescue, so I don't know for sure there either. I don't have a scale so I don't really know weights, sorry!
Go to a herp store, if there is one in your area, and check out their balls. I know my local store had hatchlings, yearlings, and adult balls for sale for a while. There's a noticeable size difference and just... a difference that you can see after a while between a young animal, a 'yearling', and an adult. Yours, to me, looks like a yearling.

After you see someone probe and have them guide you through it, it's pretty easy. Definately check to see if there's any reptile stores in your area!

She is black with a line of brown separating the white on her belly, & she has a extra long haired white stripe across her back that looks like it needs to be clipped shorter. This is the coolest mouse I have ever seen! And she tolerates being held by a 2 yr old quite well, a sweet little mouse for sure. We r keeping her, but hope to feed any future babies to Franklin.

My personal opinion:

I don't care what sex it is, I always want to buy another snake.

Cute mouse.
