I use to live in North Carolina and my snakes brumated outdoors in snake bags in a mesh cage filled with hay. It had a tarp thrown over it, and sometimes it got buried in snow. They didn’t have water. Everything was always fine. Very harsh conditions I would not replicate now ( I was a young teen, what did I know?) Now I have a wine cooler set up with an aquarium pump on a timer. It is set for fifteen minutes four times per 24 hours. It goes into a jar of water, so the incoming air gets chilled a bit. There is a hole in the jar lid for the air tubing and about sixty little holes for vents. It fizzes a little when it runs, but is very quiet, etc. The wine cooler is set to 55 degrees, and goes up to 58 and back after the air runs. My snakes are in bags in Tupperware type containers with air holes, no water. I am only brumating for seven weeks. Any thoughts on this? I’m not really sure the wine cooler is real air tight, but the door seal is awesome, do you think I could cut the air down to once per day or is four times (one hour total) o.k.? I would appreciate your thoughts.
