Sorry scaleless - I can't type
Is there a website or a link? Love to see that!

There is no website - I was in the store and saw it - It's actually marked as a ratsnake but it is definately a gopher - It was way cool - Anyone heard of another one in captivity or of anyone breeding them - The guy who owns it said he wasn't going to breed it because he didn't want any more mouths to feed - I found that strange
I've never seen a scaleless snake in person but I've seen pictures of texas Ratsnakes, garters, watersnake, and a western diamondback in the Book Variants by H. Bernard Bechtel. They have a hard time shedding because their skin tends to bunch up and it can be deadly to them.
I'd make them an offer!
How much do you think it's worth - Its an adult female other than that I don't know anything else about it
I would offer them a hundred or two. It sounds like they don't really think it is worth that much, or they would be trying to breed it. At least that is what my impression of the situation is.

there are 2 pics of a saleless gopher on page 37 of the pine/bull/gopher pics on this website. don't know if it's the same one. I would definately try to buy it off of them. I personally would pay up to around3-400 for it if it's an adult female. I have heard that scaleless snakes do tend to be a genetic trait and other than dehydration it doesn't affect them that adversly
I don't know if its the same animal or a similar one, but; they had one advertised last year in the classified's for 25,000 dollars and apparently didn't have any takers. I would be suspicious of a 4 year old female snake that was valued by them at such a price but they are not going to breed. Maybe the snake is sterile or just throws slugs. Maybe they just wanted to see if someone would shell out the bucks. Who knows? Maybe someone from their company will chime in and enlighten us. Jack
.
Why would anyone want a scaleless snake, I mean the genetics are interesting and all that but do we really want to go down the road of dog and goldfish people? Breeding for pathetic/grotesque mutations that are poor shadows of a regular animal? I don't know just my two cents.
