Genetic Stripe

Genetics: Simple Recessive

Year proven Genetic: 1999

Proven by: Bob Clark

Crosses: Albino Genetic Stripe, by RDR

I will be the first to admit, I have not gone to Daytona yet, and I really have not seen, that I can recall, any crosses with the Genetic Stripe gene. There has to be some out there, other than the Albino, like Pastel, Ghost, etc. If you have pics, please post them!

Variations: There seems to be perfect stripe animals, animals with maybe one or two small breaks, and then what EBN is calling the Cryptic Genetic Stripes. There is still work to be done on the occurance of the broken stripes vs. perfect, what I would call text book genetic stripes. Is it like the Pied, and the amount of white, which seems to be random, or is it genetic, and will text book stripes produce only text book, or will Cryptics only produce Cryptics? What will a Cryptic bred to a text book stripe produce? That is what is fun about Balls, always something to prove.

Why get one? The animals by themselves are amazing to look at, I really have not seen a Genetic Stripe that I did not like. The cross potential seems to be great, the Hypo, the Pastel, the Super Vanilla cross all should be amazing! Like I said, I find it perfect for producing some outstanding crosses, and look foreward to seeing them in the near future.

Do I own one? Yes, one male and one Het female. My male is a Cryptic type animal, and I never get tired of looking at him. The colors are crisp, and vibrant. My male is a great eater, and hope to produce some DH's in 2008. I really think this animal sometimes gets lost in the shuffle...is it time to take another look at the G Stripe?

This post is not supposed to be the authority on G Stripes, but a springboard to get you excited about the morph, a place to post some G Stripe pics, and just my personal opinion. Please, if you have any info to add, add it, any corrections, omissions, please ad or correct where you see fit. I read that the VPI folk produced a stripe too, did they produce one? did they produce a G Stripe before or at the same time as Bob Clark? Please post some pics of any crosses you might have seen...Bust out the Daytona pics for us poor saps that cannot attend. Please see Bob Clark's website for more G Stripe info, and pics of his original animal from 1989.

Hey Dave.......

Motley Bee (G Stripe X Spider) produced by Kev

Didn't the Barkers prove the G Stripe first with hets produced by Bob??

I have read conflicting reports reguarding who produced it first. I think Bob Clark has the original animal, but the Barkers may have been the first to actually reproduce a Stripe, but I am not sure, hopefully someone will know!

The Sables just shed man, they look great, one of my favorites in my collection! I want to be the first to produce a Sable Sulfur

searched through the photo album for balls and couldn't find any motley bees. You did mean Kevin aka EVILMORPHGOD of NERD, right?

Wouldn't have expected the stripe gene to effect the spider head pattern. Very interesting.
