Another proposed Hoosier Bill

Jim123 Jan 25, 2007 05:01 PM

I have no idea what is going on in Indiana but here is yet another proposed bill trying to a good deal of reptiles. This bill is coming from the House. Please see http://www.in.gov/legislative/bills/2007/IN/IN1472.1.html

Thanks,

Jim

I just got this from the senator who proposed the bill:

---------------------------

[Senator Sipes has asked that I relay her response to your recent e-mail. Charlotte A. lemieux -- Legislative Assistant]

Thanks, Jason, for your e-mail. Senator Jackman has decided not to hear my bill, so rest easy. This bill stems from a situation in my area that involves hybrid wolves.

Respectfully,

Connie W. Sipes

State Senator

--------------------

I am glad and mad at the same time, wolves and snakes have nothing to do with each other at all.

Nope the house bill is still there. As I hear things I will post them. Please contact you local Representative and let him/her know how you feel about the bill. It only takes a few minutes of your day.

Doesn't the bill have to go to the floor in both the House and Senate for a vote (if it makes it out of committee) and then to the Governor's office to be signed into law? That's my impression, and if correct, what good would it do if the bill is only heard in the House and not the Senate?

If the House Bill dies in the House committee, then you can stop worrying, and your work load will be considerably lighter, as right now, you only have the committee members and sponsors/co-sponsors to worry about. If the bill gets out of the House committee, then you have to worry about how the entire House will vote. THEN, you have to try contacting the Senate committee to which the bill will be sent, and then all the senators in the Senate if it makes it out of the Senate committee. See my point? If you can stop a bill in the first committee, you'll have a much easier time.

Then explain this....why has the Senete bill already marked dead. I spoke to the House today and Sen. Bischoff (house)is hearing the bill. This still does not make sence if the senete will not hear the bill.

Maybe they are hoping that if it is received well in the House, that maybe it will get a better reception in the the Senate?

that's what I am thinking.....When I spoke to the supervisor at the DNR's office today, she said that they had some concerns in the wording when it comes to the "potienal" 6 feet in length. She did say that at wednesday's meeting of the minds that they will be making admendments to the bill. Hopefully in our favor!! Wednesday @ 3:30 in the state house....Let our voices be heard people. If we stand tall they will recognize.
