FLEXWATT and tape?

jbkd Jan 26, 2007 07:41 AM

I was wondering if any of you have attached the flexwatt with double sided tape? or have you taped it down so boxes can slide over it?

taping down flexwatt should be ok. I have tried to tape it to the bottome of cages before and the tape wears down and doesnt work after a while. I would suggest if it is going to be a permanent then either use a staple gun to put it down or try silicon or rubber cement. Later on you can peal the silicon or rubber cement up and it wont be permanent.

First off it depends on your setup. In a rack setup you don't want to attach the tape to the tub rather the shelf. Tape works good for that (foil tape) I use glass cloth tape.

If you are just talking about tubs with lids stacked as primary cages with no shelfs or rack set up. Than yes tape works for that to however I recommend taping it to the box in this case.

In both cases I recommend tape over any other form of attachment, primarly because it won't damage the product and is removable so the tape can be reusable.

However I would not use double sided tape I would just use foil tape or duct tape would work as well and just tape the edges down to the shelf or to the bottom of the box if you are not using shelves.

That way you prevent edge damage of the tape from sliding boxes etc.

Hope that helps.
