Can you mist eggs?

eliotm May 21, 2003 12:45 AM

Hey everyone,

My P. m. grandis just laid a very nice looking pair of eggs. I am ordering an incubator as I write this, but it will not be here for a few days. The tank hovers around 88 F, so I figure it's a pretty good temp. to just let them incubate inside. I will need to mist the tank, however. Should I cover the eggs when misting to make sure water does not get directly on them?

I have P. Cepediana and I incubate right in the tank. I would recommend just leaving the eggs in the enclosure and incubating them there. I have heard more harm being caused by moving them vs. leaving them. Only if they are in a place that they can fall or get crushed would I move them. Misting them will not harm them, just don't let them get sprayed directly. They face dew and rain in natural surroundings, mistings won't bother them.
