Bummed......

rainbowsrus Jan 26, 2007 10:03 AM

Went into my snake room last night to chsck on everyone and found my 2000 het coral albino female had passed away. I know we all assume the risks of breeding and I for one had never lost a gravid female. Guess I can't say that anymore. Everything was going fine, she had been bred by a male het coral albino possible jungle. Saw the pre ovulation swell, followed shortly by the male losing interest. She looked gravid with the lower half of her body having that swollen gravid look. Only oddity was she never had her POS.

Really sucks, in one fell swoop I loose my largest breeder, possibility of coral albino babies and maybe proving out one of my possible jungles this year.

it's never easy losing an animal. Even more so when you grew it up from just a little baby. My very first boa/morph was an adult het albino female. She also passed while gravid. These things happen but all you can do is remember the joy they brought you when they were around and keep going. Take Care.

Dave:

I can't believe what I just read. When I saw her four days ago she looked fantastic. I have been almost as excited as you about the litter that she was going to have.

Dave.... I'm really sorry.

See you on Sunday my friend.

That's really hard luck. I've been there, too. Just have to stay in there punching and hope for better things.

For the kind words. Most of you I've only met online and never in person but I still consider you my friends. I am feeling better with a little time and thouyght, I still can't see anything I'd done wrong so maybe it really was "just one of those things"

A little good news, I have the OK from my wife to not only replace her but to go ahead and get two older females to fill out my projects. Now I'm searching the ads and websites for 04/05 females. Maybe albino, sunglow even looking at an albino het snow. I'll let you know what I find/decide on!!

Sorry, To hear about the loss Dave! I actually lost a female Suri a couple weeks back. She died right in middle of her POS! Bummer part is she was bred to a Sunglow, 50/50 Hypo Suris Het Albino down the drain. Well, there is always next year. I will have the same pairing next season times five, so I should hit on it next year. Good luck with the rest of your season.
