Great News! One of my female V. reisingeri started to lay eggs. This is the same female that layed 5 eggs in Feb. 2006. So far 1 perfect, large, white, turgid shelled egg. She deposited the egg on top of the nest box and is feverishly digging in the spagnum moss for her nesting site. This time I was all prepared and had the incubator ready. She sarted laying eggs exactly 43 days after I witnessed copulation.

What makes this all the better is that I strongly believe my other female is gravid as well. I believe this for two reasons:

1. Both females have used up alot of energy reserves producing the eggs as evidenced by their pronounced pelvis girgle showing
2. Both females, for what ever reason have scratches and scars all over their back. I did not witness any scratching or holding by the males when copulating, but I presume this is what it is from.
