Just a guess but it looks like a gray/yellow rat cross.

I was thinking possible grey/yellow cross as well or even a possibility of grey/corn cross.

The picture of the snake's body from above suggests grey rat while the yellow on the neck would suggest something else in the mix.

at least my thoughts anyway

Wow, crazy yellow on the bottom lip area for sure. Possibly a Gulf Hammock (yellowxgrey integrade), or a yellow from a more northern locale. Really not sure, but definitely appears to be an integrade of sorts. Just call it P. obsoleta sp.

Nice snake regardless. Enjoy.

That is NOT a Gulf Hammock Rat Snake. Gulf Hammocks are a stable morph of a Gray Rat Snake that has stripes. Its orgins may have come from Grays mixing with Yellows, but when you cross a Gray with a Yellow, you don't get a Gulf Hammock Rat Snake.

I agree that the snake is most likely a cross between a Gray and a Yellow.

Gulf Hammock Rat Snake (look, no yellow)

Definately some kind of homemade crossbreed. It comes close to what I imagine a Greenish / White Oak cross would look like. Doesn't look bad at all, I'll give you that.

Yeah, It's a mutt.
But a good looking mutt.
.
BTW...What is a "clumsy eater"?

He just opens his mouth,no strike or grab, & starts swallowing, sometimes drops it then cant work out where it went, maybe hes just laid back,im used to kings feeding habits lol.

Sounds like (and looks like in the picture), Paul, that you're taking great care of him and he's just well fed!!!

Exactly where in the country, and how did you come upon this animal?, as this would help a great deal in figuring out if it's a natural hybrid/cross, or just something somebody decided to produce. These would be helpful key factors.

I had a couple ideas in mind before, but the belly shot is proof of it having to be a Yellow/Gray intergrade.......thanks for posting the shots so soon,...best regards,............Doug
