Corndurans

KevinM Jan 26, 2007 06:59 PM

I saw an awesome pair of young adult corndurans at the Repticon show last weekend in the New Orleans area. Do they breed true like the pair looks, or would their babies if bred back to each other cover the range between corn and honduran?? Both looked the same and like a perfect blend of corn and honduran with rich orange colors and darker reddish orange saddles. Very nice indeed.

the only people who could answer that would be the origional breeders of those specific animals. but the most likely answer would be "no". the parents of those animals could be producing animals that all appear to be the same but when the f2 babies are bred back to each other they could produce the same or completely differant. that is the one thing about hybrids is that it is a guessing game as well as a waiting game. you dont know what youll get until you breed many times over and breed babies back together ect ect.....
its hard to get stability in pattern with hybrids it has been done. being that both siblings looked similiar the chances are better at producing similiar babies, but more than likely differant but also possibly better. i say go get em and breed em

I was the one with the corndurans you saw at the Gila show in Westwego, LA. I made those by using a male honduran and a female corn and yes so far when I breed cornduran to cornduran I get all corndurans with none of the offspring looking too much like a honduran or corn but a nice mix.
