Humidifying Cages

worldsocold Jan 26, 2007 08:51 PM

What is the easiest quickest most effective way to humidfy a vision cage? My vision cage doesn't seem to hold humidity very well, any suggestions would be appreciate. I also spray her down with warm/hot water 2-4 times a day and shes starting to wheeze again.

thanks Pat

Its easy, I learned the hard way like your going through. I tried misting, I tried aspen bedding. That worked ok but was a pain to clean and got all over the place. I tried moss but that did not last to long. So here is how I got the humidity up.

First cover the vents in the back with plastic. I have a 6ft and cover the whole back. My 4ft vision I cover all but 6 inches on the light side.

Part two, get a heater and put it under your cage.

Part three get a rubbermaid container that is pretty big, and fill it up and put it on the heater. This will keep the water at a nice temp and your air perfect for your retic.

I use news paper for the ground.

Hey I have newspaper as a ground, she has 3 huge water dishes, ones ontop of the heater already. However I didn't think about blocking off the back vents Thanks! Hopefully this will work.

Hahahaha, dont feel bad my problem was I did not have a big enough water dish in there. So it was blocked but that was about it. I use the stuff you can buy at Home Depot used for the windows in the winter. It works great and fits tight.
