Doesnt want to go back in his tank?

MyKiwiBird Jan 27, 2007 12:31 AM

Ok..I know that cohabbing is totally not recommended, but for the time being I do still have my two snakes together. I am still going back and forth about whether to seperate them etc etc...but my questions is one of the snakes never wants to go back in his tank when I am done handling him. He will try to go around it, over it..every which way but in it. Why does he do this? The other snake shoots back in there as soon as he gets a chance! I was told that snakes never really 'enjoy' being handled, they just learn to tolerate it, so I'm not sure if he wants to stay out and play or if he just doesn't want to go back in his house. Could it be because they other snake is in there?

I've had two of my corns together for about 8 years (yeah yeah), no problems yet. I personally wouldn't want to get shoved back into a glass box.

Like Andrew said it may not want to be stuffed into a glass box...I wouldn't....BUT...it could also be a sign of stress from being introduced back into the enclosure with the other snake.
In other words....no one can know for sure.

Most of my corns are sort of ambivalent, they will go where you put them, they don't put up a fight at all.
Most of my kings will do ANYTHING to stay outside just a little bit longer.
IMHO they have just a bit most instinct than corns.
Also, with corns, if the temp is in the no zone, they might act like that, pick up easily and don't want back in their cage.
They're cold. Do they feel cold?

You have all seen a snake guy at an expo trying to put a snake in a deli cup, it is not easy.
The snake would rather not.
