Is it normal ? Help question

triton1128 Jan 27, 2007 05:21 PM

Well I just fed my BRB. Now hes in his cage pushing his nose into the mat. Then rolling upside down so his head is flat along the mat. Almost like he has an itchy spot on his head. I dont know any other way to explain it accept it looks like a snake trying to do a head stand. Is this normal? Hes been doing it now for about 10min. Started about 10min after I fed him if that has anything to do with it. Just want to make sure something is not wrong.

Thanks.

Actually I think hes rubbing his skin off. I have yet to see him do this so I *think* thats what hes doing. It appears that its rolling up around his nose. Strange I didnt think hed be in such a good mood and such an appitite if he is infact shedding his skin 10min after eating.

This sound normal for a snake trying to shed its skin ?? Ill keep you posted in the next hour or so.

...It sounds exactly like he is trying to shed his skin. It could be a normal shed but the time and effort expended may indicat that he is a little dry. Give him a good spray or soak him in some 75-85 degree water for a couple minutes and he will probably have an easier time shedding.

He got his skin off in about 20min, Almost all in one piece too! Now I know why he was a bit shy two days ago, The caps on his eyes were probably making his site fuzzy. Looks like hes healthy. Eating really good, shedding fully. I have the temp at 77*F and the humdity at 79% all the time. Happy friendly snake. Ill post a pic a bit later. Took one of him right after he shed. He was all spred out on the branch too
