Stress from shipping, help

They arrived okay. They are very nervous which is expected. The female took a small mouse right away and has been drinking very well and has been active. She also showed me her full frill display twice... I was unaware that she could see my Savannah monitor. The male I am a lot more worried about... He hasn't eaten at all or been drinking. He seems very highly stressed, dehydrated, and skinny. I separated the two of them and completely covered the cage. He doesn't move around at all or react to his surroundings. I have some crickets and meal worms in the cage but he hasn't touched it. I tried soaking him but he resisted violently so later I tool a syringe and held his lips open and gave him a little water with a few drops vitamin D3 to help hydrate him. If you have any tips or suggestions I would very much appreciate it.

The cage is far from being ideal at this point, a 360 gal cattle traff. 6ft by 6ft. by 2ft high. I know its not ideal because it is mostly ground area. I put a Styrofoam cover over the top so they would be less stressed and a Styrofoam divider w/ glass windows in the middle. They have a large cat litter box full of water in the middle with a fogger that goes on and off several times a day. I have been putting the prey in a ceramic bowl but he doesn't seem to be interested and the female was interested but still full I believe. I have a digital camera if you would like pix of the set up.
The female has been running and stopping repeatedly though out the day but after I built the cover the male has been frilling up (only half display) 3 or 4 times as I have seen.

what are your temps? Even though you want to have him covered for security, you also want to make sure it is bright and he has a hot basking area. Hydration is a must. I would syringe feed him some pedialyte and b vitamins. Try to leave him alone as much as possible, but get the fluids in him.
good luck

try leaving atleast a few crickets run free. some animals are only used to catching their food and will not eat out of a container. that was why mine wouldn't eat. i've had it for 2 months and it will only eat crickets if they run right in front of him. the pedialyte is a good idea, it's high in electrolytes which are a must. i don't remember seeing anything about uvb/a. also a must. good luck
