Hi, I was wondering what Banana geckos ate??? If they eat crickets, would it be ok if it would just eat wax worms, meal worms, and occaisonly when its an adult pinkies??

Ive heard it is not good to feed these geckos mealworms all the time or wax worms as both are fatty Ive heard.also a pinkie maybe once or twice a month might be okay but the main diet should be crickets.also you can feed it fruit,peach,apricot,or bananna baby food in a jar lid along with crickets.

hmmm, ive never heard of or seen a Banana Gecko. Do you have a pic u can post i for one would love to see it. good luck with it.

It is probably a golden gecko Gekko ulikovskii. I will try to post a pic here for you. It's not agood one but it will do. Care just like tokay and white lines.

in the book titled tokay geckos and related geckos they have a pic and a section on care.but the authors call them vietnam golden geckos.hope this helps

Banana Gecko aka Golden Gecko trust me i am positive.They will eat up to 10 crickets a day.Superworms are also good for them,what i do for my Tokay Gecko is cut the head of of the worm,stick a sphgetti stick in a little and wiggle it infront of the gecko.

Banana gecko = Gehyra baliola/vorax! np

Ya, thtas the gecko. Do you know if these "Golden Geckos" are nice and easy to hold?? Also how much are they and do they eat mealworms, wax worms, and crickets?? Also are they common to get at a reptile expo?? Thanks for your help!!

I believe they dont like to be handled, not as tempermental as a Tokay though. They do eat crickets and may or may not accept mealies, they need to be lively. Care is very simular to a Tokay if u have trouble finding good info on them.

Avoid giving too many wax worms since they are very fatty and not very nutricious. Large meal worms can sometimes chew out of your gecko's stomach if the gecko doesnt crunch the head so its safer to just cut the head off. Silkworms or Golliath worms are always welcome by just about any gecko.

There seems to be the usual confusion surrounding the term "banana gecko". I looks like we've establisherd that they are Gehyra vorax, is that correct?

If this is the case, I've got about 30 of them in my herp room right now, what would you like to know?

Feedwise, adults do well on a 60/40 insect to fruit ratio. Any kind of insect and the very occasional pinkie. Temps and humidity are similar to Rhacs and other south pacific gex.
