ChondroGTP Jan 28, 2007 02:01 PM

My corn snake was bit in the eye by a live mouse. I forgot to knock the mouse out as I have not fed live for several years. The eye cap looks like it is dented and kinda bunched up in the bottom. can soemone please help me?

take it to a vet.
There is no way we cam help you via the internet.
good luck taking care of it.

I am sorry that this has happened to your snake and I defenitely do not mean to add insult to injury but this is why we always recommend against feeding live mice or rats (old enough to bite)
to pet snakes.
I am not saying this to admonish you I am just using this as a reminder to the dangers of live prey.
All it takes is a split second.
People rationalize by saying..."they eat live in the wild"
Yes, but I seriously wonder how many die due to injuries incured while feeding.

IM NOT A VET FIRST OFF!!!!
but to be honest im not sure what a vet can do(depending on how bad it is)he can prevent infection, possibly reattach the eye cap but more than likely vision will still be affected.
i had a snake damage her eye on some cage furniture while shedding and her eye looked horrible and i elected not to go to the vet just due to the fact that the vet bill could buy me 5 more of them(im a jerk i know) but i did call the only herp vet a he said just to apply neosporin on the eye and that their wasnt much HE could do he is the only vet in the area that does herps. well after 2 days the eye was much better looking but vision is slim to none in that eye

This is the reason you don't feed live or stunned. F/T are the safest for your snake.
