Well, I've never cleaned those specific types of wood, but when I clean wood for my aquarium I just boil it for several hours...

Ok, you probably don't have to do it for several hours. For use in an aquarium, you need to either soak it for a few weeks or boil it for hours to get the 'tannins' out of the wood so they don't discolor your aquarium water.

So, I'd say try boiling it for half an hour or an hour.

You could also try baking it in the oven. Just don't set it on fire.
